- SMT soldering and removal of chip caps, resistors, SOICs, PLCC, QFPs, QFNs
- Track and pad repair — per IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721
Inspection (6 hrs)
- Inspection to class 1, 2 and 3 — per IPC-A-610
Learning objectives
- Understand lead-free alloys, fluxes, and their properties
- Adjust process parameters (temperature and dwell) for lead-free
- Recognize lead-free-specific defects and their causes
- Apply reliable lead-free hand-soldering and rework techniques
- Meet workmanship criteria using lead-free materials
Prerequisites
Basic soldering experience is recommended.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents in English
- Visual acuity to distinguish fine detail and color (corrective lenses or magnification permitted)
