Curriculum
Day 1 — ESD & Fundamentals
- Basic ESD concepts and workplace minimization
- General ESD rules and IPC ESD video review
- Intro to IPC terms, definitions, product classifications
- Common electronic terminology
- PACE MBT 250/350 rework station operation
- Soldering tip care and safety
Day 2 — Soldering Basics
- Flux nature and properties
- Proper cleaning methodology
- Intermetallic formation
- Solder melting points and related concepts
Day 3 — PTH Board Construction
- Build PTH board with ongoing workmanship evaluation and feedback
- Create functional circuit usable as an employer workmanship sample
- Component removal using vacuum extraction
Day 4 — SMT Introduction
- SMT overview and demonstrations
- SMT board construction using varied components (1206 chips through fine-pitch gull-wing devices)
Day 5 — SMT Completion & Removal
- Continue SMT board assembly
- Component removal using conductive and convective methods with a damage-prevention focus

- Build cross-standard inspection and workmanship skills
- Apply acceptance criteria across soldering, assembly, and inspection
- Prepare efficiently for more than one certification exam
