    -   Comprehensive real-world instruction from soldering basics to the most challenging selective-soldering scenarios
    -   Focus on the process (not specific equipment), emphasizing soldering theory/principles applied to selective soldering

2.  ### What you will learn

    -   Troubleshooting common-to-difficult solder defects and root causes
    -   Specialized techniques and parameter combinations using the SSA Challenge Board
    -   Translating machine parameters to soldering principles
    -   Defect identification per IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610
    -   Understanding fluxes and their differences via demonstrations
    -   DFM considerations for difficult components/board designs
    -   Identifying new applications for selective soldering
    -   Understanding machine capabilities for productivity and purchasing decisions

Learning objectives

-   Understand selective soldering equipment and process windows
-   Develop and optimize selective soldering profiles
-   Apply flux, preheat, and nozzle-selection strategies
-   Diagnose and correct selective soldering defects
-   Balance throughput and quality for through-hole assemblies

Prerequisites

Process or soldering experience is recommended for this advanced course.

-   Ability to read and understand technical documents in English
-   Visual acuity to distinguish fine detail and color (corrective lenses or magnification permitted)
