[Register a student](#sessions) Duration 5 days Price $1,870/ student Format In-person · Onsite Overview The industry standard for acceptable soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. Learning objectives - Apply J-STD-001 requirements for reliable soldered connections - Hand-solder and evaluate through-hole and surface-mount terminations - Interpret material, process, and workmanship requirements by class - Identify acceptable versus defective solder joints and conditions - Apply wire, terminal, and component termination requirements - Follow ESD, cleanliness, and rework requirements - Prepare for the J-STD-001 certification exam (includes a hands-on assessment) Prerequisites J-STD-001 includes a hands-on soldering assessment alongside the written exam. - Ability to read and understand technical documents in English - Visual acuity to distinguish fine detail and color (corrective lenses or magnification permitted) - Basic soldering and electronics-assembly familiarity - Manual dexterity for bench soldering tasks The industry standard for acceptable soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. ## Options & pricing Choose your level and path at registration. All options run during the same class week; recertification (challenge test) is exam-only and scheduled midweek. Recertification is exam-only (no textbook/kits), Tue–Thu. CIS Operators & technicians — working proficiency in the standard. CSE Lead techs / referees — deep knowledge, not training others. CIT Certified to train others to the CIS level. Recertification (Challenge test) Renew a current certification by exam only, scheduled midweek.
